Missons

Crossroads believes the gospel message implores Christ's followers to lead lives that focus on helping others and spreading the message of salvation. As such, it has an active missions outreach effort that provides monetary support, as well as volunteer help, to many local, regional, and international organizations. During the past year, a total of $100,000 has been donated to these organizations based on the the unselfish contributions of the Crossroads congregation. Approximately 40% of these funds remained in the southwestern Pennsylvania region. Major local benefactors include the Finleyville Food Pantry and Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Several other local organizations received meaningful donations and are listed on this page for those who are seeking more information.

Beyond the local area, major benefactors are a campus ministry effort at Ohio State University and the support of two children's homes. One home is located in Ensenada Mexico and the other is in Churachandpur, India. Ensenada has been the location of annual mission trips for several members in recent years, while past major efforts at the India home include the establishment of a library and medical treatment facility for the children. Individual members also participate annually in the MAGI project (Making A Godly Impact) which provides essential items to children in Honduras, Zambia, and along the Texas-Mexico border.

  • The City of Children

City of Children began in 1970 as a labor of love led by Earl Farmer and concerned Christian people in California - today, the City of Children continues to be a successful mission model of Churches of Christ across America. The purpose is to teach the gospel of our Lord to the orphaned and needy children of Mexico. Since the beginning, 620 children and adults have become Christians, with an additional 800 new Christians reached through Baja Missions. The Mexican government allows us to teach the gospel because we are giving their children a good home, good care and education. We are trying to bring love and happiness back into the lives of hurting children.

  • Baja Missions

Baja Missions was established in 1996 as an outgrowth of the lifesaving ministry at the City of Children. One by one, 11 churches have been established and supported by U.S. Churches of Christ, in Baja communities where no church existed. The work continues to flourish as the gospel is taught in Baja’s agricultural communities for the very first time. Many of The City’s children come from these poverty stricken areas.

  • Potter Children's Home & Family Ministries: Silver for Children

For 100 years, Potter Children’s Home & Family Ministries has overcome obstacles and grown in its blessings from God with each child and family that passes through our doors. As we are all children of God, we show those who are alone or in-need the support and love of a true Christian family. This ministry is a tool in the hands of supporting Churches of Christ and individual Christians to deliver God’s justice and mercy to children and families in need. This is attained though a foster care program, a single parent ministry (SPARK), and community engagement programs.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
